Located on the second floor of 817 Chapel Street in downtown New Haven, Connecticut, Adae Fine Art Academy is a private art institution dedicated to enhancing the skills of artists of all ages.

A maximum of six students per class section ensures that each student receives as much attention as needed. Lessons are student-driven: you tell us what skills you wish to develop and we will show you how.

Adae Fine Art Academy is run by a husband and wife team of professional painters. Both are former art teachers in the New Haven public and private school systems.

Kwadwo Adae, Director

Kwadwo Adae holds a Master of Arts degree in Painting from New York University. He has been actively drawing and painting for the past twenty-two years. 

After achieving skill as a Realist, Kwadwo progressed to painting stylized, abstracted figurative works in the late 1990's.  During graduate school, his paintings evolved into the nonobjective series he continues currently.  The untitled series explores the intersection of visual art and mathematical theory and features surface textures which are sculptural in nature.

Joellen Adae, Assistant Director

Joellen Adae has a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art and English Literature from Marywood Univeristy.  She has been painting in oils for the past ten years.

Joellen's primary interest lies in portraiture and figure painting, though she often delves into still life and landscape for variety of inspiration.  She sells her paintings privately and is an art consultant for Cavalier Galleries in Greenwich, Connecticut.

In addition to the classes offered at our downtown Academy location, we offer a Mobile Art Studio Service to off-site locations, such as retirement communities, teen centers and private homes. Programs are tailored to the needs and interests of the institution or individual, so contact us if you wish to learn more, arrange an in-person consultation or receive a proposal designed for your facility.
